The Time Is Now

Saint Lucia is going through a difficult time. Over the last decade we have seen how misguided leadership has adversely affected our lives. The economy is not generating jobs, the fabric of our society is disintegrating and for most Saint Lucians, especially our young generation, the sun rises each day with little hope for a better and secure future.

Despite all the challenges confronting Saint Lucia and the world there is still the belief and the certainty that we can do better ! Throughout the country, in the cities, the towns and the villages, ordinary people all share the same confidence in the potential of our country and a strong faith in our ability to build a future in which there is opportunity for all Saint Lucians to achieve their aspirations.

What is required now is a clear vision for the development of Saint Lucia and leadership that has the knowledge and ability to harness the efforts of Saint Lucians to make this vision a reality.

The existing political two-party monopoly has failed. Neither party has answers for today’s challenges. They have both been tried; they have both been tested; they have both failed; they will only deliver more of the same. Its time for real change.

Saint Lucian electors must stay focused. They must demand answers. They must ask: What kind of society do we want Saint Lucia to be thirty years into the future? How will we get there? Which leader has the vision, the knowledge and the ability to build the right foundation for a new future for our country?

It is intriguing to note that in the movements for change sweeping many parts of the world including the Middle East, the motivational force is not primarily ideological or religious but economic. The calls for jobs, for better education, for a better standard of living, for equality of opportunity, all find their echo in Saint Lucia, and at the next General Election you have a chance to elect change.

This is our chance and our time to transform our country, to bring about meaningful change, to elect leadership that has a clear long-term vision for the development of Saint Lucia and has the knowledge and ability to harness the contributions of all Saint Lucians to make this vision a reality. This is our time to re-instill national pride, to re-establish strong national values; this is our time for new ideas, for a new politics, for a new Saint Lucia.
